Lay’s® began in 1932, when Herman W. Lay started a small business in Nashville Tennessee distributing potato chips made by a company in Atlanta, Georgia. Six years later Herman bought that company to form H. W. Lay & Company.
Innovation being a driving factor in everything Herman did. H. W. Lay & Company began producing potato chips on a continuous potato chip machine in 1942. This reputation increased even further when a research lab was opened to develop new products and flavours.
In 1944, Herman simplified the company’s name to the one we all know today: Lay’s® Potato Chips and became the first snack food company to advertise on television.
Finally in 1961, Lay’s® crossed the border into Canada and began to grow in popularity. Simply put, Lay’s® potato chips won over Canadians with their fresh and crispy potato taste. And the momentum continued. By 1997, Lay’s® was the undisputed leader, crowned the favourite potato chip brand in Canada and continues to be the favourite choice among Canadian potato chip lovers.
Here at Canada Only, you can find your favourite flavours of Lay's potato chips that aren't readily available outside of Canada.
